Have you been to Second Saturdays downtown recently? We love everything that these events bring to the neighborhood and starting next month, the Fox is getting in on the action with our Music and Movies series. Every month we’ll be pairing one-of-a-kind performances by local music artists with a music themed film. The entire event is only $12.50 for adults and $10 for children. The series starts in June and goes all summer long. Check back at FoxTucson.com for more info as it becomes available.
Music:
Voted Best Musical Act of 2021, Best R&B band of 2020, and Best Rock band in 2019 in the Tucson Weekly—Best of Tucson, the musical spirits known as Miss Olivia & the Interlopers attribute the longevity of their sonic success to not only their obvious skill in the ways of organized sound, but also – and perhaps more importantly – to their deep love and respect for one another. The band is family.
“Miss Olivia & the Interlopers radiate soulful, funky grooves”
– Xavier Omar Otero, Tucson Weekly
Movie (2004):
The story of Ray Charles (played by Jamie Foxx), music legend. Told in his adult life with flashbacks to his youth we see his humble origins in Florida, his turbulent childhood, which included losing his brother and then his sight, his rise as pianist in a touring band, him writing his own songs and running his own band, and then stardom. Also includes his addiction to drugs and its affect on his working life and family life.
