“Footprints at the Fox is a unique experience for dancers to cultivate new works and explore their artistry as choreographers. Collaborating with my fellow company members and creating something that feels fulfilling to dance is truly a rewarding experience. Choreographing is a challenge and reveals a whole new side of ballet. In my experience, it forced me to be more connected to music, and more aware of how different dancers move. If something didn’t feel or look right on one dancer I would alter and tailor the step to better suit them. The part I find most challenging is conveying a particular feeling or message to the audience. It’s much more difficult than I ever imagined!
As an audience member, you can expect to experience a celebration of new works. Exciting pieces that over the course of just one month have gone from being a simple idea or concept, to a fully realized work. The pieces are beautiful reflections of the choreographers themselves and you will see varied themes and stylistic qualities that really define each work. The audience vote is perhaps the most unique part. You get to select the piece you were left thinking about after the curtain falls. Having the audience support you not only as a dancer but as a choreographer and creator is an amazing feeling!”
