Every year incredible jazz musicians perform on the Fox stage, especially as part of the Tucson Jazz Festival.   It’s hard to overstate the massive impact that this truly American art form has has had on the world, yet it can also be challenging to “find a way into it.”  In response, this Curious Conversation will feature a mix of stories, music, and demos to help make the genre far more accessible and deepen a sense of connection with it– whether you’re a long-time lover of jazz or find yourself currently mystified by it.  With so much amazing jazz music in Tucson (especially in January), a greater appreciation of it is a direct route to greater enjoyment!  Join us at the Fox or on Zoom for this special opportunity to learn from someone uniquely poised to usher that greater enjoyment in for us all. Khris Dodge is a versatile musician and Tucson arts advocate for more than 30 years, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Tucson Jazz Festival. His rich and varied musical career has taken him from symphonic accompaniment, arrangement, and conducting, to Broadway National Tours and featured performances across the country.  This background, combined with his long-time experience as a music educator—for both youth and adults, musicians and non-musicians— makes him a powerful bridge for those seeking to deepen their understanding and appreciation of jazz.
