MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY
Get in the spirit of the Rodeo with country rock legends Pure Prairie League and the award-winning Texas cosmic, “Outlaw” cowboy, Michael Martin Murphey!
They will be on the Fox stage this coming February 2020!
Pure Prairie League took their name from an obscure 19th century Temperance Union mentioned in the 1939 film Dodge City. This distinctly American band’s multi-platinum album Bustin’ Out features their first hit record Amie, perhaps the most well known country rock song of all time. Other favorites that fans love are Falling In and Out of Love, Two Lane Highway, Let Me Love You Tonight and Early Morning Riser. Since their debut in 1972, Pure Prairie League has become one of the most respected country-rock acts of their generation. Enjoy this blast from the past with the video below, showing a young Vince Gill as the lead singer!
COWBOY HALL OF FAME LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDEE MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY launched his solo recording career from Austin in the early 70’s and has helped to pioneer the Austin Music Scene (along with Jerry Jeff Walker, Gary P. Nunn and more). The legendary Texan is still tearing up stages all across the country with hits like Wildfire and What’s Forever For?
Murphey, Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker and others forged “The Outlaw” movement, a country-rock hybrid that became the foundation for the progressive folk music we now call Americana.
He has had multiple Grammy and CMA nominations, 3 Gold Albums and 1 Platinum Album and, in the 80’s, won an ACM Award for Best New Male Vocalist Of The Year. Additional recorded hits include Geronimo’s Cadillac, Carolina In The Pines, A Long Line of Love, Maybe This Time and the Grammy nominated A Face in the Crowd.
It’s simple Cowboy Logic to get in the spirit of Tucson Rodeo Days with this iconic artist whose show is a journey of Pop, Country, Western, Bluegrass and Rock!
