Cowboy Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Awardee Michael Martin Murphey launched his solo recording career from Austin in the early 70s with the classic album Geronimo’s Cadillac. He went on to release multiple albums in the 70s culminating with his seminal certified Gold Album, Blue Sky-Night Thunder which included the Certified Platinum classic single “Wildfire,” a sentimental song about the ghosts of a woman and her horse, selling more than two-million copies in the USA. In the 80s, his career shifted to Country music and he won an Academy of Country Music Award for Best New Male Vocalist of the Year.
He has had multiple Grammy nominations, 3 gold albums and 1 certified Platinum album. He’s recorded additional Radio hits such as, “Geronimo’s Cadillac,” “What’s Forever For,” “Carolina In The Pines”,”A Long Line of Love”, “Maybe This Time’” “Cowboy Logic” and the Grammy nominated “A Face in the Crowd.” He is also the author of New Mexico’s state ballad, “The Land of Enchantment”.
2018 saw the release of Austinology-Alleys of Austin featuring songs from the early 70s Austin music scene and has amazing guests vocalists including Willie Nelson, Amy Grant, Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle, Jerry Jeff Walker, The Last Bandoleros and more.
Michael Martin Murphey, the original cosmic cowboy, and his Rio Grande Band of exceptional musicians bring a dynamic and entertaining experience to the stage as the show becomes a journey of Pop, Country, Bluegrass and Rock which will entertain young and old. He shows no sign of slowing down, and his voice is just as strong as ever.
Murphey and his band will be on stage at the Fox on February 25 in celebration of Tucson Rodeo Days!
Joining Murphey is his special guest, The Zmed Brothers who bring their Everly Brothers Experience to the stage where they re-create the original Everly Brothers sibling signature country-rock fusion that resulted in 11 No. 1 Hits for the Legendary Country and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, including “Bye Bye Love,” “Wake Up Little Susie,” Cathy’s Clown,” “All I Have To Do Is Dream” and many more.
Don and Phil Everly charted over 30 billboard top-100 singles, receiving numerous accolades and influencing countless legendary artist that came after them including The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Bee Gees, Neil Young and many others. In recognition of these Hall of Fame Inductees, Brothers Zachary and Dylan Zmed are thrilled to celebrate the Life and Music legacy of America’s greatest Rock n’ Roll singing sibling duo with their performance of The Everly Brothers Experience.
