Little Possum and the Thing in the Pond:
A Story + Theatrics for Tuning into Each Other
Little Possum’s mom sends him across the pond for the first time to get food for his family, but on the way, he discovers that there’s a THING in the pond. He’s terrified, and the advice from the other animals is just making things worse. Will he make it to the other side and back home again? Join us as we journey with Little Possum in this North American folktale, and in the process—along with some opportunities for interactive drama—we may a learn a thing or two about seeing past masks and screens and tuning into the people around us.
With kids out of school, we know that families and educators are scrambling to find meaningful ways to support them. At the same time, everyone is dealing with a range of heightened social emotional challenges, ranging from feeling “stir crazy” or isolated, to struggling with anxiety or overwhelm.
Understanding the power of performing arts to catalyze SEL (Social Emotional Learning), the Fox Tucson Theatre’s KIT (Kids In the Theatre) Program is stepping out of the theatre and (virtually) into homes to offer little weekly doses of live performing arts designed to make a difference.
Share this fun and enriching opportunity with your students, along with anyone else who may want to join in on Tuesday mornings on the Fox’s Facebook Page.
