Let Freedom Sing – Evening Showing

Presented by Arts Express

This event will have a 3:00 pm showing as well as a 7:00 pm showing!

Celebrating its 35th year, Let Freedom Sing delights audiences and embraces the patriotic spirit of Southern Arizonans. Once again on July 4th at 3 and 7 pm at the Fox Tucson Theatre, Let Freedom Sing will be a grand celebration of our nation’s birthday for the entire family! Let Freedom Sing is presented by Arts Express, with Susan Stokes, Artistic Director and Mark Gary, Music Director and Conductor.

Emceed by TV Anchor Guy Atchley, the theme for Let Freedom Sing 2019 is “The Freedom Dream.”  “’The Freedom Dream’ theme came to me as I reflected on the unique beauty of Tucson, how it holds its identity, but expands to embrace people from everywhere!” said artistic director Susan Stokes.  “This to me is a profound reflection on the best of our country, as we all, and each, share dreams of freedom,” she continued.  It will surely be an inspiring celebration of our nation’s birthday in song and visual artistry – uniting our diverse backgrounds and fostering a sense of community.

Under the direction of Susan Stokes and Mark Gary, musical selections will include patriotic standards and all-American hits, featuring the Arts Express choir and orchestra with special guests including the swinging Manhattan Dolls, acclaimed baritone Andrew Stuckey, Flamenco guitarist Ismael Barajas and many more!  Our nation’s colors will be presented by the Davis Monthan Color Guard underscored by the beauty of a lone bagpiper from the Tucson Fire Fighters Pipe and Drum Band.  It’ll be loads of fun for the whole family!

Let Freedom Sing celebrates our country’s heritage, and takes a brief look in the mirror, allowing us to see how the freedom dream is reflected in Tucson.  “When attending this event, I think folks will be inspired, challenged, and renewed in our common courage, hopes, and determination to honor and respect all people who have made the United States their home,” shared Artistic Director Susan Stokes.  “Whether our families arrived long ago, or more recently, Tucson is a terrific example of the generosity of spirit, respect for neighbors, and the hard work of individuals who make up our whole country,” she said.

After the shows are over, the festivities continue.  Enjoy tasty restaurants and cafes, live music and 4th of July specials. Then, gaze at the fireworks over A-Mountain starting at 9:00 pm.
