The Fox Tucson Theatre, the “Crown Jewel of Downtown” is pleased to announce its Youth Art & Culture Summer Program. The participants this year are the Downtown Jacobs YMCA and the Lapan College Club with students from CE Rose and Hollinger Middle School. This is the first season for the program, which was conceived and is presented by the Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation. Four great events are planned for this summer. All are free and open to kids from Tucson and surrounding areas.
Friday, June 30, 10am – 12 pm | Songs & Stories that Soar!
Featuring live performances by the Tucson Boys Chorus and Tucson Jazz Institute, followed by a “Stories that Soar” theatre, video, and dance performance. The artistic content and performances are by students from CE Rose and Hollinger schools. This collaboration is sponsored by the Lapan College Club Summer Theatre Group in partnership with Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation and Stories That Soar! FREE
Tuesday, July 4th 1pm & 4pm | Classic Cartoons & Disney’s The Jungle Book (1967 Classic Animated Version).
Two showings– including an hour of classic cartoons* followed by the 1967 animated Disney classic The Jungle Book. Enjoy the exploit of Mowgli, orphaned as a baby and raised by a loving pack of wolves, as he grows and forges friendships with the jungle animals. Then watch as he experiences the splendor of the colorful jungle, sings, dances and embarks on the adventurous and sometimes dangerous journey back to the man-village. FREE

Friday, July 14 | 9am-10am Classic Cartoons, 10am – Free screening of the animated film “Sing”.
Classic Cartoons* and screening of the animated musical comedy film “Sing”. In a city of humanoid animals, a hustling theater impresario’s attempt to save his theater with a singing competition becomes grander than he anticipates even as its finalists’ find that their lives will never be the same. Free popcorn will be provided. FREE
Saturday, August 12 | A ‘TEP 125th Anniversary Chill Out Saturday’ event:
3pm – 6:30 pm – Classic Cartoons | 7:30pm Classic musical film, South Pacific
Sponsored by Tucson Electric power. Classic cartoons* and the classic Richard Rogers musical based on the play by the same name, South pacific is the perfect summer get-away. Set on a Pacific island during WWII, love blossoms between a young nurse and a secretive Frenchman who is being courted for a dangerous mission. FREE
* Classic Cartoons: The University of Arizona Hanson Film Institute has selected the classic cartoons to present during the Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation Youth Art & Culture Summer Program. Guests will enjoy thirteen of the best Looney Tunes cartoons released by Warner Brothers Studio, starring beloved characters Marc Antony (the bulldog), Hubie & Bertie (Mouse), Claude Cat, Marvin the Martial, Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Michigan J. Frog, Sylvester, Tweety, Porky, Elmer and Bugs.
All four event days are free and open to the public. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Seating will be on a first come basis and no tickets are necessary. For groups of 10 or more, please call the Box Office to make seating arrangements.
